Maybe I can't judge it from a YouTube video, but if Synthogy has been advertising "sympathetic resonance" for so long now, I just can't hear it that well when a normal piano piece is being played. I personally think Pianoteq sounds pretty bad and I dont really get the hype around it. It's weird though even after the demonstrator cranks up the resonance all the way on Ivory II, I would have expected more ringing, like you get in Pianoteq. Pianoteq is pretty playable but does not sound as good as pretty much any sampled library. but when I listen to these pianos they sound good for certain styles and others not.
PIANOTEQ 5 VS IVORY UPGRADE
Unfortunately, if it's a Steinway sound your after, or even fooling the listener into thinking that you're sitting at an acoustic piano, well that's a work in progress for Pianoteq. In terms of soundboard resonance and evenness across the keyboard (from key to key, and between velocity layers on the same key), I think Pianoteq has got Ivory beat.
PIANOTEQ 5 VS IVORY SOFTWARE
You can hear both Pianoteq and Ivory II back to back through the same sound production software (I think it's Logic on a Macbook Pro).
I could say exactly the same about the other sounds I tested, including the phenomenally good Hand Pans and Vibraphone, and some of the historical pianos. I think each piano has its own character, so. Pianoteq 5’s electrics were already top notch, and 6’s lose none of that essential quality. Check out this link to the 1st of 3 videos on this very subject. These are some of the virtual pianos I've collected over the years, some hardware, some software.
